# 141 Birds in our garden--Olive-backed Sunbird





Olive-backed Sunbird ( Cinnyris juglaris ) 12cm
Olive-green from crown to rump,with lower breast and belly bright,deep yellow. In male,forehead,throat and upper breast are iridescent blue-black: Female is paler and duller overall with whitish chin,and lacks any blue-black markings.Resident from South China throughout most of Southeast Asia ( incl. Brunei Darussalam)Asia to NewGuinea,,The Salamon Island and North Australia.

Black Hornbill ( Anthracoceros malayanus ) 75 cm ...Local name  ... ENGGANG

Never found in large flocks,pair of this small hornbill may also be accompanied by their growing young. Male is all blackwith a whitishhorn-coloured bill and white corners to the tail. Female all black with bill and some reddish facial skin. Best identified by their call, a retching sound,irregular.In urban areas high rise buildings are their favourite chosen home. Residents of the the malay Peninsula, Sumatra , and Borneo (incl. Brunei Darussalam)
